Upgrading iMac G3 memory

I obtained an iMac g3 450 mhz (summer season 2000 i assume) and also i intend to update its memory. I recognize i require computer 100/133 168 pin. I currently obtained one 512mb from amazon.com with those specifications although it really did not function. For one reason or another all the memories that claim they work with mac are x3/4 the rate of the remainder of very same modern technology. Any kind of pointers regarding where I should seek memory or any kind of specification I should be seeking in order for it to be suitable?

Do not bother with obtaining one that is especially "for iMacs." Any 168 - pin computer 100/133 chip need to fit simply great.

I have actually been collaborating with numerous iMacs over the last couple of weeks. From my experience with them, a port - loader appears to max out at around 1GB (2 512mb chips.)

If your RAM is not functioning, you likely obtained a negative chip. See if you can trade it for an additional one.
