GTK applications fall short to start - xfs reactivate required Options

After a current update (Xorg was upgraded to name a few points ), GTK applications quit running in my kde4. I have a Debian unpredictable, upgraded around 22 April. When I attempt to run them I get the adhering to mistake :

[email protected]:~$iceweasel The program 'firefox-bin' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadName (named color or font does not exist)'. (Details: serial 888 error_code 15 request_code 45 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) [email protected]:~$ gimp The program 'gimp' received an X Window
System error.

I need to reactivate the typeface web server by hand to have it dealt with :

[email protected]:~\$ su
grzes:/home/ga# /etc/init.d/xfs restart
Stopping X font server: xfs.
Setting up X font server socket directory /tmp/.font-unix...done.
Starting X font server: xfs.

Any kind of suggestions what could be incorrect? Is it an arrangement concern? My system has actually been upgraded for the last 7 years, so I can have some old settings.

MODIFY : I would certainly be happy if a person can aim me to a pertinent conversation checklist or bugzilla website, due to the fact that I am stuck to this trouble.

As much as I realize the x11 typeface web server is currently almost deprecated for customer side typefaces. Ubuntu absolutely does not make use of xfs anymore (unless you especially install it) and also I question that Debian Unstable mounts it by default either.

After starting up, as opposed to reactivating xfs, attempt quiting it. If every little thing remains to function as anticipated after that simply uninstall it.

Try running xlsfonts prior to and also after the xfs reactivate, and also contrasting the outcomes. The distinctions can be really informing!
